It is our pleasure to have been played during “Sonideros” on RNE3, the 3rd national spanish radio station!

This is the audio of their program, we are featured with Sascha Fabulous starting at 42:20. In case you missed it (…) you can now find it here as well as on their website.

So who now explains to me why Buyakano is being played on national spanish radio, in a country where the band has never been before, opposed to sooo many shows in the Netherlands or Germany with no airtime to show for it? Not that we are complaining, quite the opposite, just wondering. ;-)

Current european financial politics by the german government finally show an effect: According to this broadcast, there are no germans in the band…

We play 2 sets, once a short preview of 25 minutes on the openAir stage at 16:00 o clock, and the second time on the stage of the Schlachthof in the evening at 21:45.

Buyakano hibernating through the winter

Buyakano’s master of disaster Julius Oppermann is touring in and around Germany with KlangWelten Festival and will be unable to work with the band for the months November & December.
Sadly this means that we will be in hibernation until January 2013, even though continuing with rehearsals in the meanwhile.
We are very excited about the coming months, working on many shows all over europe as we speak!

It is a great pleasure to be working with Manuel Cooymans on this, having recorded the album of Medicamento he has excellent expertise in the sound we wish to create: Fresh and hip, strong yet dynamic.

Featuring Jenny, Andy and Irene on vocals, with strong horns and a fat bass these recordings are sure to be a blast! A bombastic wall of sound indeed!

You might have wondered why it has been so quiet around us lately…

Buyakano has been spending the last months rehearsing like crazy, cooking up brand new repertoire with bombastic arrangements.

You will not believe what we have come up with…and there is undoubtedly nothing like it! Sure, brazilian Batucadas have long-since been performing with other instrumentalists, playing brazilian pop-, samba-, or samba-reggae tunes for the masses. The concept of incorporating a Batucada percussion-section into a band is nothing unknown. But this is different.

This is wild.

Proudly presenting: The Emperor’s New Groove. Fresh, young, dynamic music in contemporary styles, a Batucada playing Hip-Hop, Drum n Bass, Funk, Electro, Dubstep; A very large boom, with bass, horns, incredible vocals. This new sound is definitely unique, and yet stays true to it’s priciple:

Untamed. Rough. Power.


Like a steam-locomotive gone wild, escaping it’s tracks, unstoppable, with its own groove that make others adapt to it.

Sporting some very nasty hot dancers…and optional live fire-show!

Bombastic is the only word that comes to mind. Completely over-the-top might be another way to put it.

We have been saving this new show until we have it rock-solid, and will present it for the first time ever at December’s FullMoon Concert at Grounds next month. Be sure to witness the impact of this bomb exploding!

Buyakano has been invited to play for the march of the Protest against Racism and Discrimination on Dam Square, Amsterdam.

The demonstration will have speeches from numerous politicians from different political parties, and a march through the center of Amsterdam. We will lead this march, playing a killer one-hour-set. Thousands of people are expected for this event, and as on the last protests we have supported, Buyakano will unleash a fulminant party for the masses.

we’re plaaaaaying in the rain…

Playing for Sprookjesparade was a one time wonder:

Everybody soaked through after 5 minutes due to the rain, and everybody out of breath due to erratic choreographies of the group before us, that either left us standing on the spot, or running like crazy… (yes, that was their choreography…very sweat though!)

One thing is certain: Never before did a samba band break the speed record in nordic walking while playing!

Gladly we kept on playing even after arriving at the end-point, because we could finally stand in formation and just enjoy playing, instead of jogging to catch up with the rest…

Coming up next: Buyakano featuring Aquaman!

The bar in the WMDC will go through extended renovation during this winter and will be re-opened as grounds. This new venue will include the concert-hall of the WMDC and a new small stage.
Furthermore grounds will function as the host of future events in the WMDC.

Buyakano will play at the opening ceremony, and start this new place with fresh spirit.
Be sure to come by for free champagne!

Buyakano has been invited to play on this years first fullmoon concert in the wmdc on the 19th! With a set of about 30 minutes, dancing will be inevitable as we start the fullmoon concerts of 2011 with a boom. We will close the party, so showtime should be somewhere between 23 and 24 o clock.

Buyakano starts into the new year with a blast!

Our concept: A fresh innovative percussion power live act that gives us the boom we all crave for in our daily lives.

Featuring a powerfull brass-section.
High Velocity original repertoire.
Stunning solo-artists.
Breathtaking grooves and brakes.
And with attention to detail.

Buyakano has quickly established itself as the Nr. 1 event in it’s field accross Nederland.
Featurettes in Hamburg marked the beginning of international fresh samba activity.
In this new year we will follow further down that path and are currently planning tours throughout Slovenia, Croatia and Spain. Further shows in Germany, Belgium and France are in the workings.

We have had the pleasure to play for great audiences where-ever we have been, props to you for supporting us!

This month will see us with three smashing performances, so be sure to check out the infos on those dates in the shows section!

Nederland Schreeuwt om Cultuur is a simultaneous protest throughout the Netherlands. We are going to open and close the demonstration in the center of Rotterdam, on Schouwburg Plein, on the 20th of November starting at 15.00.

Buyakano has opted for another intensive rehearsal phase from the 15-19th of October.

If the weather is nice we will be found in the euromast-park again,probably around the afternoon, if not the rehearsals will be closed to the public.

Wow.

This cultural gathering was a great place to be.
Over 3000 participants of the gathering in the capital danced and cheered to buyakano.


Breathtaking energy.

We opened the event, playing a set of an hour, and lead the masses.
Upon arrival we opened the stage as well, playing for an ocean of people.


Many Thanks to the amazing crowd gathering in Den Haag! Musicians, artists, journalists, actors, programmers, intendents of the theatres…

This is a last minute announcement:

Tomorrow Buyakano will play modern samba live to support protest against the plans of the soon-to-be-government to cut funds for arts and culture by 30%!

The subsidies in the Netherlands have kept many otherwise not rentable projects alive. Holland is known for its rich artistic possibilities because of this.

The protest is called

Protest tegen de Bezuiningsmaatregelen Kunst en Kultuur!

and will take place in Den Haag
Dresscode is black, many people are expected.

Buyakano happily announces that we have been asked to play the complete second set at this months fullmoon concert! One hour of dancing to modern urban grooves and pounding samba reggae…

After conquering Hamburg last weekend it will be great to play for a Rotterdam audience again.

Furthermore we are very happy to confirm that we are going to be featuring a great rapper and MC: Gery Mendes, aka GMB
Mixing Samba with Hip Hop, powerfull percussion grooves with a smashing MC…that should be interesting!

Buyakano happily proclaims that we have been invited to play a gig at an urban underground street-festival in Hamburg:
We are going to open and close Augustenfest.

Buyakano will start playing in the square in front of the Rote Flora at around 18.00, and slowly progress towards the Sternstraße, walking up Schulterblatt, arriving on the festival-grounds an hour later. Modern Samba in Hamburg!

In our second set we will join forces with Le Grand Uff Zack and finish off the evening with a boom!
